Why Functional / Integrative Medicine?
What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative Medicine (IM) is a collaborative and personalized healing-oriented medical approach that takes account of the whole person and their lifestyle. It is informed by evidence using an array of scientific principles geared to heal illness and disease so that people can regain and maintain optimal health.
What is Functional Medicine?
According to the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), which is considered the gold standard of training in the field, “the functional medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.”
What is Integrative Dry Needling?
Dry Needling is a therapeutic approach to pain that targets pain at the source using the neuromuscular anatomy as a guide. We incorporate acupuncture needles and electro-stimulation but this is NOT acupuncture.

How is this different than acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the many modalities used in the practice of Chinese Medicine. Although we use acupuncture needles, we are approaching the patient using their neuromuscular anatomy rather meridian maps.

What should I expect from a dry needling treatment?
If you have never experienced acupuncture, you will be pleasantly surprised by how little you feel the needle. If you have ever experienced painful dry needling, I can assure you that I am committed to gentle needling with similar results.
